May 24 – 26, 2025 : Grand Canyon Rim to Rim in 1 Day
This adventure is a Rim-to-Rim hike in one day starting on the North Kaibab Trail at 4:00am and ending up on Bright Angel Trail reaching the south rim around 7:00pm, for a total of 24 miles.
So it will be a very long day. Participants should be prepared from a physical and mental point of view, as the most difficult miles will be the last 3 ones.
Eligibility for this trip :
• Participated in either PSR 2022 or PSR 2024 OR Hiking MB earned already or to be earned during Winter 2024-Spring 2025 with Mrs. Nicholls as a counselor; AND
• Registered to at least 2 of the hike prep, which will be offered during Winter/Spring : either 10 or 15 miles AND the 20 miles hike. This is mandatory, even if above requirements already met.
Details: This high adventure is limited to 11 people to avoid the Grand Canyon day hike permit. We will drive from FUMC to the North Rim Lodge on Saturday, May 24 and stay the night at the lodge. Hike Sunday will be from 4 AM to 7 PM. We will stay overnight at the Bright Angel Lodge on the South Rim. We will Drive back to the FUMC on Monday May 26. We are looking for 2 driver volunteers (NOT hiking) to transport the crew :
- from FUMC to the North Rim on Saturday
- drive from the north rim to the south rim on Sunday
- transport the crew from the South Rim to FUMC on Monday.
